Who they are

Barkology Dog Training is an in-home practice founded by Emily ("Em") Muench, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. Her account of why: "My journey into dog training started with my own dog, Oliver… when Oliver struggled with challenges like reactivity, leash pulling, and separation anxiety, I realized how much the right guidance could change both a dog's life and their human's confidence." The team also includes Nick Bochner, CPDT-KA, who leads the PAWS and Walk & Train programs, plus Dawn Crowe in client services and training apprenticeship and Cheryl Maus, a training apprentice with 10+ years of experience who is "drawn to the dogs that struggle with confidence-building, fear, and anxiety, especially rescue dogs."

Services

Published services are puppy training, dog training for adults, basic manners and obedience, leash manners and loose leash walking, advanced obedience and off-leash skills, behavior modification for reactivity, anxiety, barking and jumping, and scent work training "whether just for fun or to prepare for scent work trials." Delivery formats are in-home private training, day training programs, private lessons, virtual training and dog walking. Listed client needs run from potty and crate training and baby preparation through to separation anxiety, trick dog and CGC candidates and therapy dog prospects.

Method and getting started

Barkology states a fear-free, reward-based position: "we do not use aversive tools such as prong collars, choke chains, or shock collars." Training starts with a Training Assessment — a 40-minute private consultation with a personalized plan and next steps — priced at $150 in-home or $150 virtual, with a $75 non-refundable deposit to reserve. The consultation fee is applied toward a program if you enrol within two months, and a free 20-minute discovery call is available first.
