Dog University, at 1203 Downey Dr in Vienna, calls itself the place where dogs and owners go to school. It offers one-on-one training, group classes and a boarding school, along with daycare and boarding.

Training options

The training page lists a two-week Basic Obedience board and train in which the dog stays on site, works one-on-one with staff and spends free time in the daycare playgroup. A longer Behavioral Training program covers unlearning aggression and resource guarding and learning to socialize with people and other dogs. Both include field trips for off-site practice, follow-up sessions, entry into group obedience classes and phone support. There is also a four-week group course, good for the life of the dog, and private lessons on site or off site.

Experience

The owner, described as the resident behaviorist, has been training dogs for over 40 years according to the site and specializes in troubled and aggressive dogs.

What to ask

Ask for an evaluation first, then which program fits your dog's behavior and what follow-up is included.
