About Dogbedience

Dogbedience is a Reston trainer that puts one problem at the front of its own site: reactivity. Its home page states the business trains "without using harsh tools — NO E- COLLAR, NO PRONG COLLAR & NO CHOKE COLLAR!"

What they work on

The reactivity work is described as "countering Reactivity arising from dog to dog reactivity (aggression), towards people including young children, and/or towards other stimuli such as cars, trucks, buses, bikes, skate boards, etc." Rather than a training room, the site says "We conduct outdoor training in real-life settings, using practical scenarios to mirror actual situations for the most realistic experience. We train at Reston's local parks, nearby communities and neighborhood."

The in-home option

A separate in-home track is offered and is explicitly limited – the page is headed "IN-HOME TRAINING FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY APPLICABLE TO NON-REACTIVE DOGS ONLY". It covers loose leash walking plus door manners, jumping and leash-grabbing, and the site lists "come, sit, down, stay, leave-it, wait, drop, go-to-place, nipping, mouthing, jumping, incessant barking, potty issues, crate training, and more!"

What it costs

Prices are published rather than quoted on request. The Services & Fees page lists in-home training at "1 Hr $150 for 1 dog", a "3 Session Trial Package $495 Reactivity Rehab", "8 Session Reactivity Rehab $1200", "10 Session Reactivity Rehab $1450", non-reactivity packages from "6 Session Non-Reactivity $810" to "10 Session Non-Reactivity $1250", and a "30-Min Behavior Boost by Phone $50".

One thing to check

A Board & Train page exists, but it currently reads "Board and Train at Trainer's Home NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME", so treat residential training as a phone question rather than a listed program.

Who it’s best for

Best for a Reston owner whose dog reacts on walks and who wants the work done in the streets and parks the dog actually reacts in.
