About Family Dog Training Services, LLC

Who runs it

The owner is Steven Jackson, who states over 19 years of dog training experience alongside 18 years in veterinary medicine. He writes that he is a graduate of Animal Behavior College, where he earned his certification in dog training, and describes that program as giving him a formal education in canine obedience training and in understanding behavior and its motives.

What is offered

The site lists basic obedience, advanced obedience, off-leash training, in-public training and behavior modification, delivered mainly through board and train, with virtual consults also available.

The board-and-train program

Board and train is described as the most thorough option, with the training done by the owner personally. The dog learns commands such as sit, down, stay, come and heel, and behavior modification work is added as needed. Dogs stay indoors in climate-controlled housing.

Approach

The stated method is motivational teaching: channeling the natural motivation in the dog during the teaching process while keeping accountability and reliability.

Competition background

The site notes national-level competition, and records a third-place finish with the highest protection score at a regional championship with the trainer's dog Eis. The business also references a German Shepherd breeding program under a separate name.

Stated goal

The site frames the point of all of it as helping a family have an enjoyable, safe and well-rounded family pet for life.
