In May 2025, we paid something in the range of $1750 (that's what my notes say but I can't find the agreement anymore) for a 5 day board and train for our then-2 year old German Shepherd. For this, we were to get: 5 days of boarding/training where our dog would as it was stated "be [his] dog for the week", an e-collar, and then a follow-up training session in our home and "support for life."

What we did get: (1) 5 days board/train, (2) an e-collar, (3) one extremely hurried session when Bill dropped our dog off on a Friday afternoon. Bill was distracted and must have looked at his smart watch more than 8-10 times during his time–it felt like we were inconveniencing him, and it was odd and off-putting. He was rushed for some reason, and nothing was explained well at all; (4) then several days later he texted me one time to check in. I told him that her behavior had not really changed, she was reactive toward our cats as she was before, and she was somewhat better on a run but not much.

I saw that there was a read receipt on the text, but he did not reply. That was in May 2025, and it is now Feb. 2026.

Overall: my husband and I said that we felt like with Sit Means Sit, we really just bought the world's most expensive 5 days of boarding and an e-collar. That's about it. We received very little training, guidance, and the "support for life" was one text without any follow-up when I said that things were not going great.

What we should have done was spring for the training programs that are about double in price but probably triple/quadruple in outcome. We thought that we were splitting the baby and getting mid-level value at a mid-level price, but we've said many times that this was the biggest waste of $1750 that we may have ever spent. I do not recommend this program or provider.

Talk about life changing! Even though we are experienced dog owners, our turbo charged, reactive, high energy dog was very hard to train with other trainers. Bill was affectionate, fair, patient, and firm. He set clear boundaries for our dog and taught us how to communicate more effectively with her. His training allowed us to truly enjoy our family pet. Whether we are on walks, in parks, or even in our own yard as people walk by – we feel secure in her training and get compliments all the time on how well she listens because her recall and obedience are that good. It wasn’t easy but Bill stuck with us. I can’t say enough positive things about Bill’s professional demeanor and skills, both with the dog and owners. He doesn’t waste your time and he is very straight forward, which I appreciate. He is the third trainer we worked with and I only wish we would’ve found him sooner. He is incredibly talented and clearly loves dogs. We now have a well behaved and very happy dog as a result and we are so grateful.

Bill worked with my dog for one session of three. After that session I was told my dog didn’t really benefit from the training session due to focus and her wanting to sleep and to bring her back in a couple weeks. Unfortunately, we had to rehome her due to my child’s unknown allergy to pet dander. Bill is unwilling to offer a partial refund even though majority of the training sessions will be unused.

I’m on my 4th dog training with Bill. I’ve always been very pleased with our training sessions. He has always taken the time to explain my dogs’ behaviors and how I can fix them. I like his training style and how all of my dogs have responded to it. I have learned so much invaluable knowledge through out his classes. I will always recommend Sit Means Sit to a friend!
