Sunni was an amazing trainer, knowledgeable, zero judgement and all skill. She was my dogs biggest cheerleader. I never felt like I was doing something wrong( even if I was) and I felt we did so much laughing. After my last session my puppy has come leaps and bounds and just in 8 1 hr sessions he is better and calmer than I ever expected! Sunni is amazing I 100% recommend her! My husband and I would definitely recommend off leash k-9 for anyone with an extremely stubborn, high energy, reactive dog. That was our Maple. She began presenting with aggression towards strangers in a protective manner about 3 months into us having her (she was about 1). Always sweet to those who she knew, but wanted to take matters into her own hands when she felt like there was a threat to us (ie a stranger walking toward us on the sidewalk, or someone who she didnt know coming over). We were about to rehome her, had already posted on pages, and at a loss. But my husband said we needed to give her a chance. He landed on Off-leash K9 in Loveland.

We did the reactive/aggressive dog training. And at first I was unsure. how could a protective/aggressive dog be trained by a stranger while we’re also there? We had no experience with e-collars. and although we have both had multiple dogs and have another dog, we had never dealt with her level of issues.

Our trainer, Mackensie, knew exactly how to handle Maple. And with every session Maple was increasingly accepting of her. Mackensie didnt come on too strong with maple or react, and kept her cool even if Maple got worked up. It was exactly what Maple needed. She made sure we understood the e-collar and its purpose. She was clear that it must be used every day, and consistency is key (even after the training is over). Now Maple knows that we put on her “necklace” every morning😂. Mackensie was open to our questions, and was even willing to come to our home for a session to assist with how to introduce strangers to Maple in the home. She was very clear on how to control Maple in her bad moments and redirect her behavior. I really appreciated how Mackensie stayed in control and confident, but was not too intensely authoritative or high energy.

During every session, Maple learned a new command. She picked up on them well, but at first i was skeptical…how can learning “lay down” help with her reactivity? In hindsight, I know it helped her confidence, gives us more options to keep control of her, and most importantly was a good way to show her how the ecollar works and slowly introduce the negative reinforcement (needless to say we give a lot of positive reinforcement and treats as well). The last couple to sessions, we went in public (to home depot and a park) and learned how to prevent reactivity, redirect Maple, and keep her controlled in order to have positive experiences for her that lead to success in the long run.

Maple now confidently knows multiple commands including down, place, off, and heel. She is much easier to control. We are still working toward her being comfortable with strangers in the home (more-so because it’s a process, however so far so good!)
But maples reactivity outside of the home is seldom. I can confidently say it has decreased by at least 90%. And the more we have brought her in public and utilize what we learned in training, Maple is now completely fine coexisting with strangers.
Most importantly, during understandable times of distress (ie when a person quickly runs up behind us on the trail), Maple now turns to us for guidance instead of reacting on her own. Maple will never be a “people dog” (as in “every stranger is a friend”). And we didn’t need her to be. But safety is our main concern, and we are now able to safely manage Maple and feel in control.

Apologies for this being so long…however we were going to rehome our pup, and it was a very difficult time for us. i am so grateful that we didnt. And we have Off-leash K9 and Mackensie to thank for that. So i hope if someone is going through a similar experience, this will help them!

Just as a note to consider—I’m honestly not sure if my other dog (who is also stubborn, but lower energy, experienced abuse in his past, and is manageable) would’ve responded as well to the e-collar. So i do think it’s dependent on the situation and type of dog. But for Maple, it was exactly what she needed!!

I can’t say enough good things about our trainer, Cara. She was absolutely amazing—so knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly patient, especially with me! Cara gently pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me gain the confidence I needed to work with Stormy more effectively. The difference in Stormy is amazing, and I feel so much more empowered as her owner. I would highly recommend Cara to anyone looking for a dedicated, encouraging, and truly skilled trainer. I cannot say enough great things about our trainer Sunni! My 6-month-old golden retriever, Annie, just completed a 2-week board and train, and the transformation has been incredible. Sunni was patient, knowledgeable, and truly cared about Annie and her success.

Before training, Annie was sweet but full of puppy energy and had trouble with basic manners. Now, she listens, responds to commands, and is so much more confident and calm. We just finished a 4-week off-leash training program with Sunni, and it was seriously the best experience! She was so patient, knowledgeable, and really took the time to get to know our dog.

Our dog has pretty bad separation anxiety, and Sunni did an incredible job working around that while helping him gain confidence. You can tell she truly cares about dogs and loves what she does. It made such a difference for all of us and made the whole process fun, positive, and stress-free.
